Young artists for two days on Legality
The association CEIPES – International Center for the Promotion of Education and Development, based in the Uditore district of Palermo, it organizes, through the activities of the project RISE LAB (project number: 25 – CUP J71E20000370008), two events that include the creation of some murals, with the aim of promoting the revaluation of the city area.
The “Rise Lab – Network for Inclusion, Development and Empowerment”” project, funded by the Department of Youth Policies and Civil Service with the Notice “Young people for the enhancement of public goods”, it was created to manage the property confiscated from the mafia entrusted to CEIPES in 2017, to make it a multipurpose center for social inclusion and cultural regeneration, active locally and internationally.
Among the objectives of the project, in addition to the redevelopment of the Uditore district where the Center is located and, more generally, of the Sicilian territory, through international exchanges, the project aims to promote the re-appropriation of physical and intellectual spaces, through the expression of creativity and solidarity. On April 8 in the afternoon and all day on 9, there will be two workshop events organized thanks to the collaboration between CEIPES andthe association Agesci of Palermo, at the Volpe Astuta scout base, in the name of art and legality which will involve young people from the Damiani Almeyda Art School, located in the Uditore district, and young scouts.
It will be an opportunity to learn the techniques of creating murals and the basics of painting, accompanied by a professional street artist and, at the same time, to experiment through peer education: the “young artists”, who have previously created another mural in the Uditore district, they will support the less experienced in the various artistic activities, exchanging knowledge in solidarity.
