It’s officially started the Laboratory of Ideation and Realization of Educational Games of the Riselab project – Network for Inclusion, Development and Empowerment – in collaboration with theHigh School “Ernesto Ascione” of Palermo.

The laboratory will see the holding of ten meetings, held by an expert game designer, once a week during school hours. The participating student groups were formed on the basis of an inclusive criterion, with respect to the gender and difficulties of the students, in order to guarantee everyone a meaningful and accessible experience.

The first meeting took place in the multimedia room of the Ascione school and saw the involvement of two third and second high school classes, who had the opportunity to meet to start this project, inserted in the PTOF of the school. During this appointment, after a moment of mutual presentation, small “ice-breaking” games were held to create group cohesion and the game designer, accompanied by a project manager from the CEIPES and a volunteer fromEuropean Solidarity Corps, conducted a training session on the theories underlying the design of board games. After this first part, the students worked in groups to develop some ideas, based on their experiences. At the end of the meeting, some popular games and some new ones were tested, which allowed the students to realize the first ideas to support their design projects.

The first meeting was very well attended and marked a positive start for all the other appointments, which will take place in the coming weeks: the participants chose names for their working groups and identified the thematic areas and types towards which they want orient themselves for their games, then coming to the creation of cards, pieces, rules and elements to personalize their playful and educational products.
