About Rise-Lab

The “Rise – Lab, Network for Inclusion, Development and Empowerment” project, funded by the Department of Youth through the Public Notice “Youth for the Enhancement of Public Goods”, was created to contribute to the redevelopment of the property confiscated from the Mafia entrusted to CEIPES in 2017. A former warehouse on Via F. M. Alias, 20, in Palermo’s Uditore neighborhood, with time and a lot of energy has become a multipurpose center for social inclusion and cultural regeneration, active locally and internationally. With this new project, structural improvements to the building were carried out and new spaces were created to serve the community.

The overall goal of the project was to start a social innovation center of integrated and sustainable pathways of individual and collective empowerment and artistic-cultural expression, managed in a self – sustainable way through the involvement of local youth, whichm starting from a network at the local level, is extending with exchange of best practices at the international level.

Redevelopment of a property confiscated from the mafia through social inclusion practices with socio-educational and cultural interventions and active participation of young people in the area.

Implementation of economically sustainable activities over time with the job placement of young people, especially young women.

Redevelopment of an asset confiscated from the Mafia through social inclusion practices with socio-educational and cultural interventions and active participation of local youth.

The implementation of the project has allowed a self – sustainable management of the property confiscated from the mafia, which has become usable to the entire citizenship, especially to the youth of the Sicilian territory, contributing to the creation of a network of confiscated properties in the island.

ACTIVITIES OF THE PROJECT

Following the structural renovation of the property, different spaces were set up for the conduct of diversified activities, and in particular, the MADE museum – Analogue Digital Museum of Empowerment – was realized.

The MADE exhibition path extends along the entire surface of the RiseLab center to converge in two main halls:

Exhibition Hall

where a 360-degree multisensory experience can be done, by experimenting with: virtual reality, analog tools created with the “Arduino kit,” augmented reality and vector graphics panels.

Workshop Room

for educational workshops related to the themes of MADE.

The “concept” of MADE is divided into three different paths, born from an in-depth analysis of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN Agenda 2030: Sustainability and respect for the environment; Equality and gender identity; Migration and interculturality.

The entire path aims to encourage empowerment and the development of proactive behaviors towards the world around us, informing and stimulating young people on reflections and behaviors of active citizenship.

The contents, spaces and products have been designed in particular to encourage the inclusion of people with different types of disabilities, both cognitive and motor, for the age group from 16 to 30 years.

The spaces have been tested by more than 300 young people aged 16 to 30, teachers and other professionals from Italy and abroad.
